Privacy Policy — Alim Freight Driver
Alim Freight Inc. (“we”) operates this app for the use of our own drivers and contractors. It is a work tool: it exists so dispatch knows where a load is and drivers do not have to phone in.
Who this is for
The app is for authorized drivers of Alim Freight. Accounts are created by us. There is no public sign-up, and the app is not useful without an account we issue.
What the app collects
Location — only while you are using the app, and it stays on your phone. The app shows your current position on the dispatch map so you can navigate to stops. The GPS runs only while the map screen is open, and your position is drawn on the map on the device — the app does not send it to our servers, and it is not collected in the background or when the app is closed.
Dispatch knows where a load is through the truck's own telematics unit (a separate system installed in the vehicle), not through this app or your phone.
Your identity. Name and email address, because a load is assigned to a specific driver and dispatch has to know which one.
Photos and documents you capture. Proof of delivery, bills of lading, and similar paperwork, stored against the shipment they belong to.
A push notification token. An anonymous identifier issued by the device platform so we can send you dispatch notifications.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites. No ad identifiers.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting vendor. Diagnostic messages are written to the device's own system log and go nowhere else.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Where the data goes
To Alim Freight's own servers, which we operate ourselves. Your data is not held by a third-party transport platform.
Two exceptions, both limited and necessary:
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications. Google handles the delivery token; the notification content is ours.
- Apple and Google app stores handle app distribution and, on iOS and Android respectively, crash reports the operating system collects if you have enabled sharing with them.
How long it is kept
Trip and document records are retained as business and transport records for as long as we are required to keep them, which for freight and payroll purposes is measured in years, not days. Your account details are kept while your account is active.
Your choices
- Location permission is yours to grant or refuse, in your device settings, at any time. The app asks before requesting it and explains why. Refusing it only means the map does not show your own position; the rest of the app still works.
- Uninstalling the app stops all collection from that device.
Because this is a work app processing records of work performed, some data cannot simply be deleted on request — payroll and transport records have retention obligations. Ask us and we will explain what applies to a specific record.
Access, correction and questions
Email dev@alimfreight.com. Tell us what you want to see, correct, or ask about and we will respond. If you are a driver, raising it with dispatch works too.
Deleting your data
To request deletion of your account or your data from the Alim Freight Driver app, email dev@alimfreight.com from the address on your driver account, with the subject “Data deletion request”. We will confirm receipt within 5 business days and complete the request within 30 days.
- Deleted: your account and sign-in, your push notification token, and any documents you uploaded that are not part of a completed shipment record.
- Kept: trip, shipment and payroll records that name you, for the retention period required by transport and tax law (measured in years). These are business records of work performed and are retained even after your account is closed. We will tell you exactly what is kept for your account when we confirm the request.
Children
The app is a workplace tool for licensed commercial drivers. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this policy and change the effective date above. Material changes will be told to drivers directly rather than left to be discovered here.
